I have to disagree with crowduck I can hit a man sized target at 25 easily I can in a pinch at prone hit a man at 100 with my 1911 and it is not even a nice tight match model but a chinese copy thats box stock. The .45 will NOT throw a person back thats just urban legend the gun someone should chose should do 2 things go BANG every time and be comfortable for the person shooting 25 rounds every week is better then 500 every 6 months. If was recommending a gun I would say stick with .40 or 45ACP not GAP and practice practice practice ok Im off my sopa box
zak,

I said, "an average person, beyond 25 yards".

As for, "The .45 will NOT throw a person back thats just urban legend", how many 'real people' have you actually shot......at any range?

I started shooting '22 with my uncle at an early age, I have been a hunter since I was 16 and own several hunting rifles and shotguns, I have been in charge of and handled big automatic guns in the Army, but I must say: This discussion is beginning to make me feel uneasy...

(and maybe a Glock 26).
You'll be sorry...
You think, on the Glock? I have never much cared for that gun. IMHO, it jumps around too much for a 9mm.
9's can be pretty hot especially if you are using factory loads. If you know of a reloader get a few boxes of some lighter target loads and it may just change your mind ;)

I have been down the 1911 road: Colt, Wesson, Wilson, Norinco, Ed Brown, Kimber, Springfield and a few others I can't recall... I experienced FTF, stovepipes and jams on EVERY single one of them. I love the look, feel and romance surrounding the history and lore of this beloved model but as another poster said " when my life depends upon a gun going bang I always grab my Glocks".

We have been reloading for years and I have settled on one calliber as my favorite, 40. It's has the velocity and zip of a 9mm and nearly the stopping power of the 45.

If you don't like your Glock then by all means get rid of it. A gun should feel right in your hands and instill confidence. Many folks don't care for the boxy feel and ergos of Glocks. They fit me and I love em. There is good reason that the majority of all law enforcement personnel in the world carry Glocks, they are as reliable as a rock. I have 20K+ rounds through two of mine and have yet to have one jam or FTF. That's a pretty good testimony.

Time to get off my soapbox too as I feel like I am in the sights of the 1911 crowd
